We will gather at the entrance of the Roman necropolis of Carmona to commence a two-hour guided tour focused on uncovering the Roman legacy within the city.
Our adventure begins as we step into one of the most notable archaeological treasures on the Iberian Peninsula: the Archaeological Site of Carmona. This site boasts two key structures from the Roman era: the necropolis and the amphitheatre.
We will first delve into the necropolis, renowned for being one of Spain's best-preserved historic burial complexes. Here, we will explore Roman burial customs and admire the remarkable tombs intricately carved into the stone.
Adjacent to the necropolis, along the historic Via Augusta that linked Rome to the Iberian Peninsula, lies the magnificent Roman amphitheatre. This venue once hosted gladiatorial contests and various entertainments, bringing the history of ancient Carmo to life.
