Prepare to explore one of the oldest Christian worship sites within Matera. We'll gather at the specified time at the entryway of the Cripta del Peccato.

Once we assemble, you'll be granted 30 minutes to wander through the cave at your own pace. Your English audio guide will highlight intriguing aspects of the artwork and offer insights into their history. The frescoes adorning the cave's walls originate from the 9th century and illustrate various scenes from Genesis.

Among these artworks, the most renowned fresco depicts the banishment of Adam and Eve from Paradise. Instead of searching for an apple, you will notice a fig representing the forbidden fruit. What could this signify?

After you finish with the crypt, you are welcome to make your way to an ancient masseria. Here, you'll partake in a tasting experience featuring local specialties, including Matera bread, taralli, bruschetta, a variety of meats and cheeses, turkey rolls, dessert, accompanied by a glass of wine and coffee. A delightful way to complete the visit!
